Overview

Skofnir is designed as local-first AI software. The core desktop chat experience can run using models on your own computer rather than a hosted AI provider.

Local desktop data

Conversation history, private character definitions, character images, and local settings may be stored on the device where Skofnir is installed. Skofnir does not need to receive the contents of ordinary local chats in order to generate model responses locally.

Internet services

Internet access may be used to download software or AI models and, as online services are introduced, to access Discover, accounts, membership status, character submissions, security features, and support.

Discover submissions

If you submit a character for public Discover publication, the submitted package, metadata, image, creator/account information, and moderation records may be transmitted to and stored by Skofnir's online services for review and publication.

Early-access mailing list

If you join the early-access list, Skofnir stores the email address you provide, the time of signup, the signup source, and your consent status so that we can send the product updates described on the signup form. You may unsubscribe at any time. Early-access signup does not upload your private chats or character prompts.

Payments

Payment details will be processed by a third-party payment processor. Skofnir does not intend to store full payment-card numbers itself.
